2008 Mediterranean Cruise on Azamara

Well B and I are back from a wonderful 2 week cruise throughout the Med and we're well rested unlike our honeymoon Med cruise when we returned exhausted. The trip itself started ominously with a 2 hour delay in Tampa, which meant that when we landed at 6:05 pm in Philly our flight to Rome was about to take off. I grabbed my carry on and took off running. We landed 2 terminals away from the plane so I had to run about a half mile with bag in tow. When i finally reached the desk I couldn't speak from a lack of breath so I just handed the lady the boarding passes. Luckily this flight too was delayed a few minutes so by the time Bridget arrived we were boarding.

Now because of this sliver of time between flights, US Airways messed up and my bag never made the flight. In fact, it took 7 days for the bag to make it to the ship so I was forced to recycle my airplane clothes every day until Barcelona (where I bought a bunch of clothes, DOH!)

I'll write more on each port but I wanted to say what a wonderful cruise we had. Dale over at dalesCruises.com did a fantastic job with our preparations and the price was unbeatable. Azamara laundered my clothes for me every night and had them ready for me every morning for free. US Airways finally flew my bags directly to Barcelona so I was able to enjoy the remainder of the cruise without any problems.

We met some amazing people, John and Kathryn from Wisconsin are our new role models for travelling and Jenn and Rob have given us another excuse to visit Seattle again soon. Dan and Barb from Hawaii gave us some great tips for wine and traveling the islands and some great hidden beaches and a nice couple from Alaska and another from Oklahoma. Hat tip to Gary from Florida for showing us the rankings of all the mega-yachts we ran across on the cruise. The largest of which was the russian-owned sub looking yacht in Malta which ranks as 10th largest in the world.
